Russell Etling

Evergreen Cemetery is managed by the City of Gainesville’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department and falls under my area of responsibility. In my role I have grown to love “This Wondrous Place”- its history, its physical beauty and its great serenity. These photos attempt to capture the many moods of the site… something that can only truly be experienced in person. They were taken during different visits, at different times … as the morning sun broke through the stately trees, on a windy, overcast afternoon and on a spring day when the azaleas were in riotous bloom.

Biography

Russell Etling has spent over 40 years in the cultural field and has dedicated his career to entertaining, educating and inspiring audiences. In doing so, he has organized major exhibitions, produced live entertainment events and guided the growth and development of large arts organizations. He has had a passion for visual art his whole life and stands in awe of those who have made the creation of it their lives.
